Biography

With a combination of raw talent, vision, and an incurable personality,
CHERISSE is on her way to taking music by storm. Following in the footsteps
and inspiration of such artists such as Ella Fitzgerald, Roberta Flack, and
Sade, Cherisse's mix of heartfelt lyrics and soulful Jazz-tinged melodies lay
over funk-soul driven production by Cherisse and her longtime musical
partner Mark Mclean. The two visionaries wanted to "Get back to what music
was all about" they say. Cherisse shuns the mold that may come with the
industry. "Its about the way you feel when you hear something that tugs at
your heart. That to me, is the mark of a "hit" {song}" she says. Cherisse does
indeed invoke these feelings with her smooth, gripping voice. The sincerity
within her songs capture feelings that are universal. "There are certain things
in life that we all feel and are affected by no matter who we are. I want people
to hear themselves in my records". Each song brings you closer to where this
20 year-old New York natives heart lies.  
Knowing very early that music would help her reach and encourage others,
Cherisse "stepped out in faith" and decided that after high school she would
pursue the career full time. The choice to skip college was a bold and daring
step. However, she stayed focused on her heart for the craft. In her junior
high school days she had taken up writing poetry to ease her overdeveloped
mind. "I realized that those words were songs waiting to be expressed" she
says."I found myself deeply desiring to put these feelings to music".  By
chance she met a small production company that seemed to understand her
developing vision. She wrote, CO-produced, and recorded her first song with
the company at 16. As her writing improved, Cherisse eventually grew restless
and decided to take a break from the company and write alone. 6 months after
this decision, she was introduced to the man who is now her partner, Mark
Mclean {CEO of I. F. A.  Recordings and Black Tone Music Group}. "It was an
instantaneous connection" Cherisse reports. Since then, the limits to their
discovery are few and far between. Prepare to be inspired by truth and
wisdom through Cherisse's works. Her discovery has brought forth a
collection of songs that will illuminate a new age in soul music.
